I don’t think I’ve ever seen a wedding that was more perfectly matched to the couple and their guests than Trisha & Wei-Hwa’s. They both collect board games (current count – over 200), love to play games, and create games. On their first date they played “Race for the Galaxy”. At that time their friend Tom Lehmann was still perfecting the game and Trisha had to learn the game with a regular deck of playing cards marked up to look like “Race for the Galaxy” cards.
In honor of that first date, Trisha & Wei-Hwa worked “Race to the Galaxy” throughout their wedding day at the Cypress Hotel in Cupertino. Cards from the game were added to the floral centerpieces and each of the guests received their own custom deck of the game… featuring a guest appearance of Trisha as the Queen and Wei-Hwa as the King.
Keeping true to themselves, the couple had a “First Game” instead of a first dance. What game did they play? Race for the Galaxy of course! For the benefit of their guests the game was shown on a big screen and their friend Thomas narrated the game.
After the “First Game”, the couple had a surprise for their guests. Hidden behind a folding wall was a game lounge! It had couches to relax on, a popcorn maker, a candy table, a custom soda counter and a huge variety of games for the guests to choose from.
